With six colts players on duty for the 1st's and reserves it was always going to be difficult to field a team that could gel together on the day. But things started well with George Koumas opening the scoring after only 9mins gone as he latched on to a fine free kick from the left from Man of the match Will Eastwood. A rare defensive mistake saw Chirk haul themselves back on level terms on 22mins, Robbie Gibson took it off the feet of Paul Chalinor, but got no distance with his clearance and gift wrapped Chirk their opener. Only a minute later Chirk took the lead courtesy of a fine free kick, which evaded everyone and crept in at the far post.
Half time 1 - 2
Gresford remained a dominant force on the attack and created many a chance to get themselves back into the game, but it was Chirk who extended their lead on 55mins from nothing. With Gresford piling on the pressure they had a in swinging corner turned into the net by Chirk's goal keeper on 60mins and looked to be rescuing something from the game. But it was Chirk who got the game's next goal and best of the day on 75mins direct from a free kick again. 2 - 4. Again Gresford attacked the chirk's back line and pulled another one back on 82mins, again an own goal. It set up a frantic last 10mins but Chirk held on to return home with the three points.
