If you are looking for a match full of incidents then this is the one! Unfortunately the referee stole the show from two good foot balling sides with his constant whistle blowing and producing 5 yellow cards and one red card without justice to the travelling team! Rant over!! On a playing surface that was like concrete the both teams opened the game well and both had early opportunities to score, with resolute defending from Gresford's back line and some poor finishing from both teams the score remained 0-0 at half time. On 65 mins the referee for some reason unknown to both camps awarded a free kick to Coedpoeth, with Adam Taylor lining up his wall he somehow got his angles all wrong and the taker struck the ball into the far corner of the goal to give Coedpoeth the lead. With Gresford trying hard to establish themselves within the game without upsetting the referee they did manage to burst into the box without the ref's intervention and deservedly equalized from a George Koumas strike on 80mins. But it was the ref who had the last laugh and made a series of error's that handed the game to the home side and after a cruel decision to blow Stefan Edwards offside as he was closing in on goal, the resulting punt up field by Coedpoeth gave them their second goal and all three points!
