GRESFORD ATHLETIC COLTS MATCH REPORT
New Brighton Res 2 Gresford Athletic Colts 2 Saturday 7th. October 2006
With only 2 mins gone Gresford found themselves defending a long throw into the box. It wasn't dealt with and somehow found its way into the back of the net for a disastrous start for Gresford. Gresford started to find their feet and began to take control of the game and put the New Brighton defence under pressure with every attack they had. On 22 mins Eddie Morris-Jones found the net after some good work by Phil Jones down the right. Stefan Edwards also had two great opportunities to score his first senior goals but was not up to the task and fired over the bar and at the keeper. Four minutes later, Phil Jones again found himself with an opportunity to take us into the lead after cutting in from the right and he powered the ball in off the far post. After the turnround it was Gresford still making all the running and were awarded a penalty kick mid way through this second half. Up stepped Kev Hope but the keeper guessed right to save a weak penalty. Just as Gresford looked to be taking maximum points off the team previously unbeaten, a long deep ball was delivered which stretched the back line of Gresford and scored from close range in the dying moments and New Brighton somehow scrapped a point from nothing!
