COLTS MATCH REPORT

Overton Reserves 3 Gresford Athletic Colts 4 Wednesday 2th. April 2007

It was Gresford who bossed the early stages of the game, with Michael Latham looking lively up front. On 19mins he took the ball down with his back to goal and turned well to unleash a shot into the far side of the goal, great start from everyone. Things didn't stay that good for long with Overton working hard and not giving up anything. Veteran Pat Laughlin chased a weak back pass and he got his reward by toe poking it past the even older Rob Ackerley! But it was the mighty Latham who took Gresford into the lead once again, he got the finest of touches to a good cross from Lloydy to make it 1-2 at half time. Hero then turned villain and from some inexperienced decisions Latham had his own team reeling, he gave the ball away in a key area and gifted Overton their equaliser, 2-2 after 57mins gone, game on! Football can be a cruel game and just when Overton looked to be getting back into this game, the ball fell kindly to Broady who made no mistake with his snap shot. 2-3. Georg Koumas replaced Latham and looked to be on a mission! He chased everything and when it mattered most he played a nice lay off to Broady to double his personal tally and looked to seal the points for Gresford. Overton did not give up this game and kept forcing Gresford back and earned a succession of corners and on 85mins they pulled one back 3-4. The final 5mins was played hard but fair and you got to give Overton credit, they never gave it up. But their efforts where denied and Gresford picked up a valuable 3points.
