With several reserve players in the squad the lads started brightly with a good early chance falling to Stefan Edwards, those power-dive just went the wrong side of the upright after 14mins. Penley did look quite lively on the counter attack but found Mike Platt in goal equal to everything. Chance after chance went begging for the colts which included Danny Purdie hitting the woodwork, Clearance off the line from Luke Peate's header, Off the line from Chris Broadhurst's chip the list is endless.

It only took Chris Broadhurst 5mins into the second half to open the scoring from a cross off Stefan, but only 3mins later Penley drew level with a close range head from an in swinging corner. 1-1 It took a bit of magic from Purdie to put Gresfords once again in front, and you wont see a better struck free kick straight into the top corner of Penley's goal. 1-2 Michael Latham now seemed to have more space going forward and secured the game after a fine solo effort, which saw him tack on the whole Penley back line and place the ball into the net.
