The division 3 league cup gives the boys a chance to relax a touch and enjoy the game knowing points are not at stake. Played at Darland, with the grass finally cut they started brightly again and soon had Penley under pressure. On 24mins Danny Brown sent a far post cross in to the box and Stefan Edwards headed towards goal, only for Tomas Hughes to help it in from close range. Ten minutes later the impressive George Koumas turned sharply to play in Tomas for this second of the match.

It should of been three before half time as Stefan Edwards turned to celebrate a goal that never was as the 'not to well placed' ref claimed had not crossed the line! Half time 2-0 Gresford continued to dominate and on 55 mins got awarded a penalty which Michael Latham missed. Then on 61mins Stefan got this goal after a strong run down the left. Michael Latham made amends for his spot kick miss on 81mins and headed a goal from a long free kick to seal the win. It was a good solid performance which at times was spoilt from some terrible referring!
