The opening of the game saw an even sided encounter, with both teams playing hard to establish themselves. It was Gresford who drew first blood when they were awarded a hotly disputed penalty which was converted by Tomas Hughes. The rest of the half was evenly matched and Gresford just about deserved the half time lead.

With the wind behind them, Gresford begun to pile on the pressure and after 15minutes of the second half gone, Tomas Hughes doubled his personal tally following a neat ball into the box by Kev Hope, it somehow evaded everyone in the box but Hughes did not give it up and somehow managed to sneak in at the far post and hook the ball in from what seemed an impossible angle. Stefan Edwards began to see more and more of the ball and was soon on the score sheet himself after his initial shot had been parried by the busy goalkeeper. Nathan Pugh cemented the win soon after from another cross from Kev Hope and the boys are in the hat for the quarter finals.
