Gresford started the game brightly and on 6mins Tomas Hughes was given a great opportunity to open the scoring following some neat work down the left by Jamie Jones, unfortunately his far post head did not match the quality of cross and narrowly missed the target. Then following some great work down the right on 13mins from Ioan Davies, his far post cross was met by Jamie Jones to again head agonisingly wide. 21mins gone and yet again another chance wasted, Tom Hughes volleyed straight into the arms of the keeper for a comfortable save. With Gresford completely dominating the early exchanges with some impressive build up play, surely it was a matter of time before they would register a goal! Nathan Pugh who is normally lethal from just outside the box, sent a shot just wide of the post again. Then out of nothing Penyffordd sent a high ball into the Gresford penalty area, with Nick UNderwood under great pressure from a Penyffordd player he was adjudged to hold onto him and was awarded a penalty which was converted on 27mins. With lots more chances not taken during a one way first half, it was evident the Gresford players started to get frustrated. Second half and down one goal to nil, still the chances came and went for the young Gresford side. It took a corner kick which was powerfully met by centre back Robbie Gibson to get Gresford back on level terms. But from the re-start Gresford found themselves picking the ball out of their net after some inexperienced defending. 2-1 Again Robbie Gibson powered forward to meet another corner kick, again goal! 2 -2 But unfortunately Gresford did not learn from their past mistake and Penyffordd punished the shell shocked Gresford midfield/defence, responding yet again straight from the re-start. 3-2 Gresford all in all had been a credit to the game and with some better finishing would of probably registered the highest win of the day.
