Bala as expected from a team at the top of the table started well with some excellent first time football in a very difficult day for football with a heavy pitch and high winds. They took the lead on nine minutes through Neil Fisher who finished off a fine passing move. They went two up on twenty four minutes when poor marking by the Gresford defence gifted Llion Roberts a free header. It was almost three ten minutes later when Gareth Rowland had to tip a shot over the bar. Gresford gradually got into the game with youngsters Danny Brown and Ryan Billington showing well. Three minutes before the break Gresford reduced the deficit when leading scorer Craig Williams headed home a Billington cross.
Bala immediately restored their two goal advantage when Gresford lost the ball in midfield and the ever green Neil Davies fired home.

The second half started evenly but Bala should have increased their lead when Warren Duckett fired over the bar when well placed. Gresford then gifted Bala another goal after losing the ball. There was now only one side in it and Duckett missed another good chance before the match ended on a sour note with a nasty tackle on Danny Brown that did not get the punishment it deserved.
