FIRST TEAM MATCH REPORT
Bodedern 1 Gresford Athletic 2 Saturday 27th. January 2007

With both sides at the wrong end of the table points were vital. Gresford started the better of the two teams and almost went ahead in the third minute when Craig Williams (pictured)flicked the ball over his head and volleyed from twenty yards in spectacular style against the post. On ten minutes Williams opened the scoring from am Eddie Morris-Jones through ball. Ben Jones almost increased Gresford's lead after a good ball from Shaun Williams by Gareth Roberts in the Bodedern goal saved well. A Shaun Williams cross then caused havoc in the body penalty area and forced a home defender to head over his own bar. Gresford though they had doubled their lead when Alan Williams converted a Craig Williams head on but the referee thought otherwise and ruled the goal out. As half time approached Bodedern forced Gresford back and should have equalised when one of their strikers rounded Gareth Rowland in the Gresford goal but Kevin Hope cleared off the line.
Half Time: Bodedern 0 Gresford Athletic 1
The second half started with both sides attacking looking for the next goal in the game. But with Kevin Todd outstanding at the back for Gresford Bodedern found their chances limited. Gresford increased their lead on sixty minutes when the hard working Alan Williams slotted home. Two minutes later Bodedern got on the score sheet when Barry Jones finished well. A great cross from Morris-Jones was then headed into goal by Craig Williams only for the over fussy referee to disallow it for some reason best known to himself. Bodedern pushed Gresford back as they went flat out for an equaliser but Gresford's defence stood firm and they held out for a well deserved three points
