Gresford started brightly taking the game to Buckley from the kick off and deservedly went ahead in the twentieth minute, Craig Williams scoring with a well placed shot from twelve yards. Buckley then got into their stride and forced Gareth Rowland in the home goal into a couple of good saves. But it was Gresford who almost doubled their lead after Eddie Morris Jones and Matt Davies combined to create the chance. Shaun Williams then forced Andy Hughes in the Buckley goal into a save after good work by Phil Jones. Buckley drew level on forty minutes with a well executed goal from John Farrell.

Buckley started the second half on top with Kevin Breeze hitting the bar and Rowland having to pull off two great saves. Buckley's' pressure finally paid off in the sixty second minute when slack marking in the Gresford defence allowed a Rob White mi s-kick to end up in the back of the net. An isolated Gresford attack almost brought an equaliser but Shaun Williams shot wide after good work from Jon Taylor
