Gresford traveled to Llangefni Town with five of this seasons successful youth team in the squad. They got off to the worst possible start when Geraint Mitchell put the home side ahead with a clinical finish in the first minute. Llan increased their lead on twenty five minutes, Dave Nottage tapping in after the ball had come back off the bar. Stef Edwards had a great chance to reduce the deficit after a good ball from Shaun Williams but he fired over the crossbar. Edwards then had another great chance but this time fired straight at the keeper. A mix up in the Gresford rearguard then presented Llangefni with a third goal in a half that Gresford will not want to remember for to long.
Half Time: Llangefni Town 3 Gresford Athletic 0
Gresford with nothing to lose and to their credit took the game to Llangefni and almost scored the goal that would give them fresh hope when Alan Williams headed a Shaun Williams freekick wide of the post. Gresford ware now playing some good football on a tricky pitch and with player manager Alan Williams driving his team on were unlucky on numerous occasions not to score. But it was Llangefni who came closed to a second half goal when they forced Gareth Rowland in the Gresford goal into a great save. Gresford at this stage will count themselves unlucky with chances falling to Craig Williams and Phil Jones. Jones should have scored after being put through by a great Stef Edwards pass but his shot missed the target. Substitute Ryan Billington they tried his luck but the keeper was well placed to save. Gresford got the goal their second half display deserved with ten minutes remaining. Kevin Todd heading home a Phil Jones freekick. Gresford dominated the second half but got what they deserved for a inapt first half display.
