Gresford full of confidence after three straight wins started brightly and created some good opportunities. Their first chance fell to Craig Williams but he failed to his the target after good build up play. Wyn Jones also went close as Gresford were the better side in the opening twenty five minutes. Mynydd Isa's fist chance came after a mistake by Gresford's young full back Danny Brown but Matt Roberts fired the chance wide. Is took the lead against the run of play Stuart Wood firing home with the help of a wicked bounce in front of Gresford keeper Gareth Rowland. Danny Purdie had a good chance to draw Gresford leveled but his shot missed the target. Dave Walsh in the Isa goal then made a great save to turn a Wyn Jones effort round the post.

Five minutes into the second half Gresford drew level with a Phil Jones penalty after the referee saw a hand ball that nobody else on the ground saw. Rowland then had to be quick off his line to block as Isa looked to regain the lead. The turning point of the game came when Phil Jones was recklessly tackled with in an over the ball incident that the referee failed to see. Jones had to leave the pitch and within minutes Isa were three one up with goals from Matt Roberts and Dean Hardstaff. Gresford then made a double substitution in an effort to get something from the game but it was Isa who added two more to their tally before Danny Purdie converted a Gareth Williams cross for Gresford in the last minute. Gresford will be disappointed with the outcome after starting the game so brightly
