FIRST TEAM MATCH REPORT
Gresford Athletic 1 Prestatyn Town 0 Friday 4th. May 2007

Prestatyn Town travelled to Gresford Athletic seeking the three points that would secure them third place in the league and with Gresford looking to secure a second win to finish off the League campaign before their NEWFA Cup Final against Bala Town, manager Sammy Jones was forced into making changes with Assistant Manager Alan Williams unfortunately out with a knee injury, Captain Craig Williams being rested with a back injury and Kevin Todd starting on the bench still not fully recovered from his groin problem. The first half saw Gresford play some of their best football of the season and despite Prestatyn having a golden opportunity from a corner cleared off the line by Josh Page after 30 minutes Gresford finished the half on top following a goal from Owen Roberts on 40 minutes following a through ball from Tom Hughes which cut through the Prestatyn defence and saw Roberts drive the ball diagonally across the box past keeper John Dunt. After no doubt a strong half time talk Prestatyn piled the pressure on the Gresford goal but despite being awarded a number of free kicks within goal scoring opportunities they were denied by stubborn Gresford defending and another fine performance from Gareth Rowland who showed his agility in the 65th minute by collecting a low ball struck in from a free kick on the edge of the box by Jamie Duffy. Despite the pressure from Prestatyn, Gresford did not let them have all their own way and another fine ball from Tom Hughes saw Josh Page's strike disturb Dunt who parried the ball out to Owen Robert's whose strike went over the bar. Sammy took the opportunity to introduce all his substitutes in the second half which ended with a win for Gresford with Robert's first half goal turning out to be the only goal of a thoroughly entertaining game.
