Gresford traveled to free scoring Prestatyn with veteran Rob Ackerley deputising for the unavailable Gareth Rowland. Gresford started brightly with Kevin Hope and Stef Edwards showing goo attacking qualities. Prestatyn then came into the game and Ackerley had to be quick off his line to smother a through ball. With Kevin Todd outstanding in defence Gresford thwarted Prestatyn and Kevin Hope almost gave them the lead with a twenty yarder that flew over the bar. An evenly contested first half finished goalless.

Gresford started the better of the two sides and thought they had took the lead when a Craig Williams header appeared to have crossed the line but the officials would thought otherwise. Gresford with their defence on top form and Danny Purdie and Craig Williams causing Prestatyn problems looked the more likely side to take the points. The killer blow came on seventy five minutes when Paul Welburn struck an unstoppable shot into the top corner for the only goal of the gamer. Gresford were again denied what looked like a certain penalty when a Prestatyn defender handled the ball but again the officials were not impressed with their appeals. Gresford will play a lot worse than this and win, they were worth a point at least in an excellent all round performance.
