FIRST TEAM MATCH REPORT
Gresford Athletic 1 Ruthin Town 1 Tuesday 3rd. March 2007

With Gresford looking to build upon Saturdays result against Llandudno the starting line up saw Dave LLoyd, Josh Page, Owen Roberts and Mike Latham retaining their places in the starting line up with Max Peate, Danny Brown and Tom Hughes returning to the squad having been rested for that game in preparation for Sundays Welsh Youth Cup Semi Final. Neither side took control of the game from the off with the dry hard pitch having its effect on the ability to play football. No clear chances were created by either side prior to a disputable penalty being awarded to Ruthin Town by Referee John Coulthard on 30 minutes for an alleged high challenge from Kevin Todd. The resulting spot kick was taken by Endaf Jones who slid the ball in low past Gresford keeper Gareth Rowland. On 38 minutes Gresford were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty when Phil Jones was challenged in the Ruthin area however 45 minutes saw them being awarded what was again a disputable penalty for a push on Kevin Todd following a Gresford free kick being floated into the box by Phil Jones who tucked away the resulting spot kick to the left of the Ruthin keeper. The restart was delayed with Assistant Referee Mark Stokes being unable to return and following discussions between both Clubs and the Referee this saw Gresford Colts manager Craig Edwards take up the flag on the far side. Both sides had a number of half chances during the second half with Gresford's Gareth Rowland being called upon on a couple of occasions to keep them within the points, all 3 Gresford substitutes were introduced during the half which was played out in fading light for the final 10 minutes with both sides achieving a point. Not a particularly exciting display of football which was affected by the hard pitch and fading light however what matters is that another point was secured.
