In what could be described as a must in game for both sides it was rethink who had the early attacks, but with the inform Steve Halliwell marshalling his defence well Gresford thwarted anything Ruthin threw at them. Gresford gradulay got into their rhythm and started to play possession football with Craig Williams almost given them the lead after a good ball found him in space. Ruthin then had thee best effort which forced Gareth Rowland in the Gresford goal to tip over the bar. Gresford went ahead on twenty three minutes when Craig Williams headed home a Shaun Williams free kick. Eddie Morris-Jones came close to doubling the lead but his shot flashed past the post. Gresford won a corner on thirty seven minutes and the Shaun Williams, Craig Williams combination worked again as the later scored with a fine right footed shot. Two minutes later the lively Craig Williams was brought down in the penalty area and Phil Jones converted to put Gresford three up at the interval Half Time: Ruthin Town 0 Gresford Athletic 3
