Gresford started brightly with Craig Williams having two early chances. But on ten minutes Lex went ahead when Gary Pendlington scored from two yards out. Lex doubled their lead on eighteen minute after a rare error from Gresford keeper Gareth Rowland who saw Martin Plant's twenty yarder finish in the back of the net. Wyn Jones then had to head of the line as Lex dominated the closing stages of the first half. Gresford forced a few chances at the start of the second half and Lex keeper Scot Evans made a good stop to prevent them reducing the arrears. With twenty minutes remaining a Matt Davies header from a Shaun Williams free kick brought Gresford back into the game. But only for three super saves from Gareth Rowland Lex X1 would have run out more comfortable winners.
