Gresford Athletic Reserves dropped two points in their opening fixture with Penycae and had Mike Pugh, Danny Gray and Ian Jones making their club debuts. Gresford shaded the first half and took a 38th minute lead through Matt Jones who netted from close range. Pugh, Chris Broadhurst and Danny Gray came close to doubling our tally and we paid the heavy price of missed chances when Gavin Davies beat Michael Platt deep into stoppage time. There were some fine performances with Richie Carr in defence and Mike Pugh in midfield the pick of the bunch.
