Gresford kept to the same starting line up with Jon Ratcliffe returning to the subs bench alongside Kevin Hope and Darren Jones

Flint on an excellent run of results took the game to Gresford and almost took the lead on five minutes with a header from a free kick that flew over the bar. Phil Jones then went on a run for Gresford but his was blocked on the edge of the Flint penalty area. Flint took the lead on twenty two minutes after a mistake by Kevin Todd, Shaun Beck converting with a close range header.

Flint almost added a second with a shot from Andy Davies that forced Mike price into a save. Gresford did find the back of the net but Craig Williams's effort was ruled out for off side. Wyn Jones was next to try his luck with a thirty yarder that came back off the post. On the stroke of half time Gresford should have been awarded a penalty but the referee failed to see a clear hand ball by a Flint defender, he consulted his linesman who had is flag raised and restarted the game with a drop ball.

Gresford started the second half brightly and a good Danny Purdie cross almost created an equaliser, he repeated this five minutes later forcing Flint to concede a corner which resulted in a Phil Jones chip shot being saved by John Wyatt in the Flint goal. Flint then forced Price into a save after a free kick.

Gresford were level on sixty three minutes when Phil Jones started and finished a move, fortune coming his way as a Flint defenders clearance rebounding off him into the net. Danny Purdie then made a great run into the Flint penalty area forcing a corner that came to nothing. It was now all Gresford and a Wyn Jones free kick saw Craig Williams challenge John Wyatt in the Flint goal, the ball fell to Purdie who's lob was comfortable gathered by the keeper. Flint sealed an undeserved win with a breakaway goal, Shaun Beck scoring at the far post.
