Gresford got off to what seemed a perfect start, Danny Purdie's twenty yard shot being fumbled by the home keeper and Craig Williams following up to score. The referee having given a goal changed his mind when he saw the linesmans flag raised. In an even first twenty minutes both sides had chances to take the lead without trobling the keepers. On twenty four minutes Flint took the lead, Kevin Leach heading home when unmarked.

Phil Jones almost equalised for Gresford after a good Purdie ball and a couple of Kevin Hope corners could have produced a deserved goal. Flint went two up just before half time as the Gresford defence failed to clear a long throw and Dave hughes headed home.

The second half started as the first had finished with both sides attacking but Gresford gifrted Flint a third goal, giving the ball away to easily and Phil Molyneux capitalised. Gresford then brought on Jon Ratcliffe and Matt Williams as they tried to get back into a game they had enjoyed a lot of possession in.

But when your luck's out everything goes against you as Flint's fourth goal high lighted. A Chris Newman back pass hitting a divot and bouncing over Gareth Rowland's right foot just as he was about to clear. Gresford then created more half chances with Shaun Williams and Alan Williams coming close. Flint sealed their win in the last minute when more slack marking left Ian Taylor free to head home.
