Glantraeth started the brighter and took the game to Gresford from the off, two of their early chances resulting in shots that were way off the mark. Gresford had an early scare when Gareth Rowland had to be quick off his line to dive at Robert Williams feet. Glan appealing for a penalty that referee Paul Ballanyne turned down. On fourteen minutes the Gresfoed defence were left static as Mark Thomas headed into the top of the net to give Glantraeth deserved lead. Phil and Wyn Jones did their best to try and get a lack luste Gresford going with Phil firing over the bar from twenty yards and Wyn's probing down the left un-rewarded.

With Gresford having a day to forget Glantraeth added a second with a Craig Roberts penalty after Rowland in the home goal being adjudged to have fouled the same player as he broke into the Gresford penalty area passed a square Gresford defence. Gresford were awarded a penalty them selves five minutes later when Paul Pritchard brought down Craig Williams as he raced into the penalty area. Phil Jones hammered the resulting spot kick (left) onto the bar.

Half Time: Gresford Athletic 0 Glantraeth 2

Gresford started brightly in the second half but poor passing and a solid Glantraeth back line prevented them producing any clear cut chances, although Danny Purdie created a half chance for Jon Rstcliffe that he wasted and a Matt Cooper through ball was volley wide by Craig Williams. Rowland in the home goal then had to save from Craig Robert's after a mis-placed Kevin Todd pass. Gresford were awarded a second penlaty of the game in the seventy sixth minute when Craig Williams was impeded just inside the penalty area. Mike Gronnow stepping up to send Prichard the wrong way to put Gresford back in the game.

MOM MATT COOPER

Four minutes later Glantraeth made in three one, a corner evading everybody and the ball finding its way to the far post where Richard Owen scrambled home. Gresford to their credit tried to get something from the game with Danny Purdie, Craig Williams and Phil Jones all creating half chances that came to nothing. Another disappointing result for Gresford after the midweek defeat by Lex X1
