Gresford included last weeks two goal hero Jon Taylor, Kevin Hope retained his place in the side and Gary Robinson came in at left back. Phil Jones, Jon Ratcliffe and Ian Matthias making up the substitutes bench.

In a scrappy opening fifteen minutes neither side played crated much in goal;scoring chances. Jon Taylor did see a shot deflected wide and Kevin Todd headed wide after a Gary Robinson throw in. In the sixteenth minute Gresford went ahead, Jon Taylor picking up a loose ball beating a defender and cooling placing the ball under the advancing keeper for his third goal in two games. Three minutes later Halkyn were level. Gresford failing to clear a corner and Steve owen scoring from close range after a Sam Pugh header cam back off the bar. |

Gresford then had a penalty appeal turned down as the ball appeared to strike a Halkyn defenders arm. Wyn Jones then saw his thirty yard shot bounce off the top of the Halkyn crossbar. A Halkyn throw in then caused panic in the Gresford area and Mike Price had to be quick off his line to save with his legs. Ryan Edwards of Halkyn then saw an effort skim the home crossbar. Gresford regained the lead in the thirty seventh minute, a long ball out of defence by Kevin Todd was helped on by Craig Williams to leave Danny Purdie to chip over the advancing keeper

The second half started with Halkyn on the attack and they were rewarded in the sixtieth minute when James Hussaney scored the equaliser with the Gresford defence appealing for off side. Gresford then made substitutions and took the game to Halkyn. At this stage the game could have gone either way with Wyn Jones coming closest with a free kick that the Halkyn keeper turned for a corner. Adam McGee in the Halkyn goal was the busier of the two keepers at this stage and prevented Ian Matthias and Phil Jones from giving Gresford the lead.

Gresford restored their lead in the eighteth minutes when Mike Gronnow headed a Phil Jones cross home at the far post. Five minutes later Ian Matthias should have sealed the game for Gresford, Gary Robinson finding him with a good pass but Matthias's attempted chip went straight into the keepers arms. With time running out Halkyn played a long ball into the Gresford half which was missed by the Gresford rearguard and substitite Tommy Leonard scored with a great shot into the corner off the net to make the match all square
