Gresford recalled the fit again Mike Price. Kevin Hope and Ian Matthias coming in for the unavailable Phil Jones and Jon Ratcliffe. They introduced two sixteen year olds Jon Taylor (pictured) and Josh Page to the substitutes bench.

Gresford playing down the slope were the first to crate a chance when Matt Williams fired wide from twenty yards. Williams then took a free kick that Alan Williams headed down but the chance was cleared. Craig Williams then fired wide after another Alan Williams pass. Holywell then came into the game with a couple of dangerous crosses that came to nothing. Mike Gronnow then almost gifted Holyhead the opening goal when he allowed the ball to bounce over his head, but Mike Price was quick off his line to thwart the attack

Gresford with Shaun and Alan Williams winning the midfield battle were slightly the better of the two teams but poor passing and decision making did nothing to help their cause. A Wyn Jones corner was then cleared as Alan Williams looked likely to score.

HALF TIME
HOLYHEAD HOTSPURS 0-0 GRESFORD ATHLETIIC

The second half became a dour battle with both sides creating and missing half chances. Holyhead wasted the best chance of the game with two minutes remaining No goals after ninety minutes. Gresford went ahead five minutes into extra time when a long Gary Robinson throw was volleyed into the Holyhead goal by youngster Jon Taylor. Mike Price in the Gresford goal then pulled off a great save to tip a header over the bar.

Holyhead pushed forward in the second half of extra time looking for the equaliser but were punished as Gresford counter attacked. Alan Williams fed Jon Taylor and the youngster cooley chipped the home keeper and the ball flew in off the cross bar to put Gresford two up with five minutes remaining. Holyhead did manage to pull one back in the last minute after Price had made a good low save the ball landing at John Parry's feet and he fired home
