Gresford were forced into changes for the visit of Lex X1. Craig Williams sore knee kept him out of the game and Phil Jones was only fit enough for the subs bench. Kevin Todd and Carl Andrews returning to the starting eleven

The first ten minutes were quite for a local derby but then Simon Holloway picked up the ball down the left, cut in and fired into the bottom corner to give Gresford the lead/ Mike Gronnow and Holloway then combined to set up jon Ratcliffe but his shot was blocked. Lex then had a free kick taken by Richard Cooke that Gary Pendlington headed goal wards but Gareth Rowland turned the ball over the bar for a corner. Mark Williams then dribbled his way into the Gresford penalty area only for Rowland to block at his feet. Lex should them have equalised when a Cooke free kick came back off the bar and Mark Williams headed goal wards only to be thwarted by Rowland again |

Gresford at this point were looking jaded and tired and it came as no surprise when Gary Pendlington equalised from the penalty shot after Mark Williams had been fouled by Dave Lloyd. Lex now had the bit between their teeth and Penlington completed his hat-trick with two goals in four minutes

Gresford came out for the second half but found it hard to break down a stubborn Lex defence, they thought they should have had a penalty when Simon Holloway appeared to be fouled as he sped into the penalty area. A Danny Purdie goal bound free kick was then deflected off the defensive wall as Gresford looked for the goal to get them back into the game. Jon Ratcliffe created the next chance but Simon Holloway was stretching as he headed wide. Purdie then created a chance in the Lex box but was upended as he went to shoot, the referee to everybodies surprise waving away Gresford's penalty appeal. |

Gresford through caution to the wind switching to three at the back as they went searching for a goal. Substitute Robbie Jones made a great run down the right but his ball into the area was taken off Danny Purdie's head by Craig Jones. Lex almost rubbed salt in the would by scoring a late goal but a timely tackle by Kevin Todd prevented a goal |
