After a quite opening ten minutes Gresford were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Llandudno penalty area, Phil Jones firing well over the bar. Gareth Rowland in the Gresford goal then sent a long ball down the centre of the pitch that Chris Hughes did well to lay on to Danny Purdie but his shot was well wide. Llandudno then created and wasted a good chance to take the lead. A poor clearance from the Llandudno keeper gave Chris Hughes a half chance but the Llandudno defence recovered we ll to clear

Gresford were looking dangerous on the attack with Chris Hughes leading the line well. I defence Mike Gronnow was a tower of strength as Llandudno looked to get in front. Shaun Williams almost gave Gresford the lead after a Danny Purdie and Rob Jones created a chance that he skimmed the bar with. Purdie then saw a header from a Phil Jones corner fail to trouble Dave Vickers in the home goal. A good move by Llandudno was thwarted by Rowland as he came off his line to block. James Cornish then gave Llandudno the lead after picking up a lose ball he ran unchallenged in the Gresford penalty area to fire a low shot passed Rowland. Rowland then had to turn a Lloyd Roberts twenty yard pile driver over the bar

Half Time: Llandudno 1 Gresford Athletic 0

Llandudno took the game to Gresford at the start of the second half with Gresford reduced to counter attacking. Llandudno doubled their advantage on fifty five minutes when Lee Thomas scored from close range after being set up by Leighton Griffiths. Robbie Jones was then just beaten to a poor back pass by Vickers in the Llandudno goal as Gresford looked for the goal to get them back into the game. Shaun Williams on his return to midfield was spraying some great ball about and from one of these he found Matt Copper down the right and his cross found Purdie who's goal bound shot was blocked. Gareth Rowland then had to save a shot from Lee Thomas as Llandudno looked to tie up the game.

MOM

But it was Gresford who came nearest to scoring the third goal of the game when Danny Purdie saw his twenty five yarder come back off the underside of the bar and Chris Hughes head straight into the keepers arms. A bizarre goal sealed the game for Llan. A cross from the left by Lloyd Roberts fielded by Rowland in the Gresford goal only to the amazement of everybody the assistant referee to raise HER flag to say the ball had crossed the line when it obviously had NOT. Purdie then created another great chance that was wasted.
A fine season coming to an end with a defeat for Gresford. Comments heard from their changing room included "Must have been adjusting her make-up". "A women's place is in the kitchen"
