Llandudno after their midweek seven goal haul started brightly and created an early chance that was fired wide. Gresford came into the game strongly and took the game to Llandudno with Ian Matthias thinking he had opened the scoring when his shot appeared to have crossed the line and he was set up by a fine Phil Jones run. Mike Gronnow then headed wide from a Phil Jones corner as Gresford gradually got on top

Llandudno were also creating chances and after one shot sailed over the bar they forced Gareth Rowland on his first game of the season in the Gresford goal to smother a goal bound header. A great run by Wyn Jones then presented Gresford with another chance but Ian Matthias hit the top of the bar with his shot. Wyn Jones then had a strong penalty appeal turned down as he raced into the Llandudno box

In a well balanced but poorly refereed game Gresford made the break through on sixty minutes after Wyn Jones and Craig Williams combined for Ian Matthias to cross to the far post were a Jon Ratcliffe headed was adjudged to have crossed the line. James Cornish then had a great chance to level for Llandudno but he hammered over the bar from the edge of the box. On seventy five minutes Llandudno equalised after a run and cross from the left was palmed out by Rowland and Lloyd Roberts fired home.

Rowland then prevented Llandudno from taking the lead when he tipped a twenty five yard shot over the bar. He also had to be on his toes five minutes later when Gresford conceded a free kick on the edge of the box, this time he had to dive full length to turn the ball for a corner. A Jon Ratcliffe run then almost created a goal for Gresford but his low cross missed everybody. In the last minute Lloyd Thomas of Llandudno received his second yellow card of the game after a reckless tackle. Then with the referee having already told the Gresford players time was up he allowed Llandudno to have one more attack and in the sixth minute of stoppage time substitute Deniol Graham bundled over an undeserved winner for Llandudno |
