Gresford made one change to the starting line up Wyn Jones replacing the unavailable Simon Holloway
With both teams desperate for three points to move away from the wrong end of the table the game started nervously with goalmouth incidents few and far between in the first fifteen minutes. It was Llandudno who had the first chance when a through ball forced Gareth Rowland off his line to make a block with a sliding tackle. Craig Williams then set up a half chance for Gresford but Alan Williams failed to find the net with a twenty yard effort. Gresford took the lead on thirty two minutes after a run by Jon Ratcliffe down the right, his pass found Wyn Jones who tried his luck from twenty yards, the visiting keeper failing to hold his shot and Craig Williams firing home from close quarters. Gresford then had a purple patch with Wyn Jones, Craig Williams and Jon Ratcliffe all going close. It was Williams who increased Gresford's lead on forty two minutes. Wyn Jones broke down the right and his cross found Williams those poked the ball towards goal only for a Llandudno defender to block the effort, the ball fell kindly for Williams who bravely headed home and was injured in the incident. Gareth Rowland in the home goal then had to be at his best, diving backwards to turn a goal bound header over the bar for a corner.

Gresford started the better side in the second half and with Llandudno playing the offside trap it only seemed a matter of time before Gresford scored again. The first chance came when Jon Ratcliffe and Dave Lloyd played a one two down the left which resulted in Lloyd's shot being deflected for a corner. Phil Jones then made a great run down the left only to see his low cross into the box evade everybody. Alan Williams then flicked on a long ball and Wyn Jones fired over the visitor's crossbar. On seventy minutes Llandudno were handed a lifeline when poor defending by the home defence resulted in them scoring from close range. Gresford then became nervous as Llandudno went looking for an equalizer. The nearest they came was from a shot from the left hand side of the penalty are that Rowland in the home goal saved at full stretch. Gresford then began to get the better of the Llandudno offside trap and should have made the game safe before Rob Jones scored the their third goal in the eighty fifth minute. Wyn Jones took a free kick which was headed down by Jon Ratcliffe and Jones found the corner of the net from twelve yards. Gresford were then guilty of missing a few clear cut chances to make the score line more emphatic.
