Gresford looking for their second league win of the season kept the same starting line up that won in their last game at Buckley. Wyn Jones returned to take one of the substitute positions.

Both sides started brightly and an early chance created by Alan Williams and Simon Holloway resulted in an offside decision against Craig Williams. In the ninth minute an excellent move by Gresford resulted in the opening goal. Simon Holloway fed Phil Jones down the left wing and his cross was converted by Craig Williams. A long ball out of defence by Gresford almost produced a second Gresford goal, but Simon Holloway was tackled as he was about to shoot after being set up by Craig Williams. Gresford did score in the nineteenth minute to increase their lead, a Phil Jones free kick was headed home at the far post by Mike Gronnow for a rare goal. Six minutes later Penrhyncoch were awarded a very dubious free kick in the Gresford penalty area when the referee adjudged a Dave Lloyd interception to be a back pass, a short free kick was fired into the top corner of the Gresford goal.
Dave Lloyd and Craig Williams then combined to create a chance for Holloway but his hot failed to trouble the Penrhyncoch keeper. Penrhyncoch then had a great chance to equalize when a through ball split the Gresford defence but the chance was fired past the post.

HALF TIME: GRESFORD ATHLETIC 2 PENRHYNCOCH 1

Penrhyncoch started the second half on the attack and a combination of goalkeeper Gareth Rowland and the crossbar prevented them from equalizing. Rowland then had to be alert to block another Penrhyncoch attack. Gresford gradually came back into the game and a good interchange of passes between Phil Jones and Simon Holloway resulted in the latter's shot being saved. Gresford added a third on fifty five minutes after a short corner kick was crossed into the box by Phil Jones for Kevin Todd to head home.
The game was now end to end with both sides playing some good football. Penrhyncoch were reduced to ten men when they had a player sent off for a second book able offence. Gresford finished the game strongly and the Penrhyncoch keeper had to make three good save to prevent Craig Williams and Matt Davies increasing their lead. I
