Bradley Villa away was never going to be easy on the back of a good result against Overton last week.
Like last week the opposition were big and strong typical of the league. Having said that you have to beat these teams if we are to progress. A difficult start with both sides feeling their way into the game taking account of the semi frozen pitch. The early exchanges were pretty even with the best opportunities falling to us with Owen failing to pounce when the ball broke loose just yards from goal and with Ratty failing to hit the target and then producing a good save from the Bradley keeper.
Eventually we found the net when Chal and Owen worked a short free kick that Owen despatched magically. We really needed to progress from this and kill the game off.

This wasn’t the case and the home side started the second half in a positive manner causing us all sorts of problems with their direct approach. With credit to Bradley they really unsettled us and we continued to make bad decisions which eventually resulted in Luke handling the ball in the box only for the referee to point to the spot, for Bradley to equalise. If you thought it couldn’t get any worse, it did, and within 10 minutes the home side were in front and it could have been 3 – 1 only for poor finishing saving our blushes.
We needed to change things about with Robbie coming on for Max allowing us to go three at the back in a hope to try and salvage something from the game. All credit to Robbie he added a different dimension and settling the ship somewhat. We started to get a foot hold in the game and from a lovely corner Ratty out jumped everybody to head home and set up an interesting last 15 minutes. The remaining subs were used and were both effective with Matt slotting in at centre back and Jason providing good width on the right. Unfortunately, not the win we wanted but we’d take the point given the performance.
