Away to Cefn United at Church Fields is always a difficult place to go but in all fairness, credit must go to the home side as a lot of time and effort has been taken improving both the pitch and facilities.

We started strongly and set about the task well with the lads imposing themselves on the game from the off, with last weeks poor performance well and truly forgotten. We were controlling the midfield and with the pace of Owen and the magical touches of Broadie were proving too hot to handle up front. This dominance finally paid off when Owen floated over a delightful ball into the box for Sutty to finally slam goal-bound which after at least 3 deflections ended up in the back of the net. I think one for Andy Gray to decide over.

We continued in this manner and could have wrapped up the game before half time with good chances falling to Haggis, Owen and Lloydie. However, this wasn't the case and against the run of play the home side levelled from a corner that we failed to clear.

Half Time Cefn United 1 – Gresford Athletic 1

After a shaky 10 minutes our class took over and from then on in we bossed the game allowing the home no chance not even for sniffer their aptly named centre forward.

Second name on the score sheet was Huw Jones following some good work down the left with a tap in from close range. Then came a bit of class from Owen a chance he carved out for himself after beating two player he rifled home from just inside the box to make it 3 – 1. On came the subs with Matt replacing Huw Jones and Josh replacing Owen up front. Before we had chance to draw breath Josh had stolen into the box and was up ended by the keeper for a penalty. Enough said up stepped Haggis to fire home only for the referee to disallow the goal for encroachment, from the re-take under immense pressure from the home side Haggis buckled with his knees like jelly he tapped the ball wide. It didn't stop there, as there was enough time for Robbie Jones to spin the ball cheekily through the goalkeeper's hands.

The picture above shows Haggis Mis-JUDGING his spotkick !!

A great squad performance with all 14 players playing their part.
Final score 4 - 1

The TWA Team Gnome award was to Graham Suttcliffe who despite being warned continued to rub the back of his head against the dug-outs resulting in being covered in the anti vandal paint, which subsequently ended up all over his hands, comedy.
