On a cold and windy Wednesday evening Gresford Athletic Reserves failed to improve their long unbeaten run.
In a first half with the wind at their backs Gresford failed to create a notable goal scoring opportunity. A few corners from Dave Lloyd and Kevin Hope put the Cefn defence under pressure but their keeper only had one save to make when he easily dealt with a Chris Broadhurst shot from the edge of the penalty area. . Cefn had the best chance of the half when their centre forward beat the offside trap but with Gareth Rowland coming quickly off his line he shot agonising for him wide of the post.
Cefn had the advantage of the strong wind in the second half and looked dangerous from freekick's and corners. It was from a free kick that they scored the only goal of the game. The wind assisted kick being headed home. Gresford tried to get their game together but it was just not their night. Their best chance came from a quickly taken free kick from Matt Davies that found Owen Roberts who squared to Chris Broadhurst, but a great blocking tackle from a Cefn defender thwarted the danger
