First round of the Horace Wynne Cup with a tricky home draw against Holt Nomads who recently dumped Brynteg Villa out of The North-East Wales Challenge Cup.

As we thought the away side started brightly not allowing us to settle or get any real footing in the game, proving to be quite difficult opposition. However, from our first real attack we forced a corner and from the resulting set play Gaz Pugh floated a lovely ball over their flapping keeper for Matt Davies to continue his rich vain of form popping up at the back post to slot home. It was a typical cup tie a real edgy affair with both sides giving very little away in what proved to be a very scrappy end to the first half.

The second half started where the first half left off with both sides battling for supremacy without creating any real chances worth writing about. Having said that I thought we always looked comfortable and the most likely to create the necessary breakthrough.

We couldn't have asked for better from the lads with the defence rock solid and some tireless performances from the rest of the lads. When it was time for a change the fresh legs were much needed with Owen continuing to impress with his pace unsettling the opposition.

Not a game for the purist but a win that I think we just edged, a credit to all involved against a team who's league status doesn't reflect their talent.
