NAZAM DRUID WELSH NATIONAL DIVISION ONE
GRESFORD ATHLETIC RESERVES 3-2 RUABON VILLA
Chris Broadhurst, Richard Carr, Dave Lloyd
Ruabon Villa at home what will be our 6th game of the season and its still early October not bad compared to last season.
The away side started brightly and had the best of the early exchanges not allowing us to settle or get any footing in the game, proving to be quite difficult opposition. Eventually we started to get hold of the ball and string a few passes together causing Ruabon problems. We continued to probe and openings were being crested and as always you can rely on Broady to coolly side foot home when the ball fell kindly to him inside the box.
This seemed to kick start Ruabon and with the game evenly balanced the away side took the initiative just before the break with a great strike from outside the box, that levelled the game at 1-1 at half time. This had to be a fair reflection of a good first half.
Half Time Gresford Athletic 1 – Ruabon Villa 1
Halftime team talk, much of the same don't give the opposition any chances and we'll win the game.We couldn't have asked for better with Sutty having an inspired day marshalling the defence the midfield bossing the game as usual and chances being carved out by our forwards. The domination told midway through the half with Richie Carr breaking clear in the box to slide the ball goal bound 2 – 1. There was no let up and Ruabon had lost the discipline and the game was becoming a one sided affair with Matt Davies who was on for young Owen who had worked his socks off, going close twice. Then up stepped Lloydie with a magical shot? that fooled everybody and ended up in the back of the net, 3 – 1.
With the remaining subs now on the momentum was kept going allowing Luke Peate to go on weaving run reminiscent of John Barnes for England in the Marracana Stadium Brazil , shame he couldn't finish his dinner.
A moment of madness followed with Ruabon pulling one back in injury time, final score 3 – 2.
.The TWA Team Gnome award was awarded to the most vain David Lloyd with a tub of gel in his hair before the game, we went out to warm up for this vanity aid to run out down his face. This didn't happen in my day.
