Gresford 2 - 1 Rhyl

Roberts scores again as Gresford come from behind to keep run going.

In a game of two halves Gresford came from behind to take all three points and stretch the unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.
Gresford should have been in front but for two fine saves from visiting goal keeper Crowther both from Obi Anurou, the second from a quick break which Owen Roberts squared but for Obi to be denied by Crowther.
Rhyl it was though who took the lead mid way through the first half when their high press managed to catch goal keeper Joey Jones who misskicked for Danny Holland to score into an empty net from 25 yards.
Captain Max Peate scored his first of the season after a free kick from Tom Freeman was floated in and Peate managed to head the ball over the retreating defenders and goal keeper.
Gresford it was who look more likely 2nd half and when Roberts again released Anurou he couldn't quite find Tom Freeman coming in on the far side or the corner of the net. Steve Halliwell sent on Aaron Edwards replacing Obi with Owen Roberts switched from his right wing role to play in his favoured central position.
Peate who was a constant threat all afternoon was then involved again when he was adjudged to have been fouled in the penalty area. Jack Chalinor stepped up but saw his penalty brilliantly saved by Crowther, the rebound was turned over by the advancing Chalinor and Rhyl survived.
Manager Steve Halliwell then made a further two changes which proved to be telling. Simon Smith replacing Tom Freeman, and Jack Edwards replacing the tireless Josh Griffiths.
After a penetrating run down the left hand side Smith was fouled by the Rhyl right back, man of the match Dave Macintyre took the resulting free kick, Peate once again won his header and Owen Roberts turned it home on the back post to make it six goals in five games since his return from injury.
Gresford held on for a vital three points to move level on points with Rhyl.
